MinsGame Fall 2019: Day 10

The Minimizing Game Day 10 consists of:

  1. A coat my husband hasn’t wanted to wear in many years.
  2. A bag I bought about 12 years ago, stopped using because it was annoying to carry (cross-body bag + big boobs = heartache), kept in closet for 11.5 years.
  3. A bag given to me when I got my job 4+ years ago but I never used it because it’s branded.
  4. A bag I bought from etsy only a year ago, but it got slightly wet and the design just melted away. Also I had forgotten the cross-body-bag math when I bought it.
  5. A small black hat I don’t know where it came from or who it would fit.
  6. A hat no one wants.
  7. A small cute hat that doesn’t fit Nadim.
  8. A very tiny pair of sunglasses.
  9. A leather necklace. (?)
  10. An empty box that held logos once. (This item was later switched out for a broken photo frame, as we may sort toys into it.)

MinsGame Fall 2019: Day 9

The Minimizing Game Day 9 consists of:

  1. A pair of Samir’s shoes that no longer fit.
  2. A pair of my shoes that I thought fit for a few days, but then they became super uncomfortable and tight, and then I put them away and tried again later, but alas, these are not the shoes for me.
  3. A pair of beach shoes I hate but had to wear because I had a thing about flip flop and that toe part, but now I seem to have gotten over that and also hate these.
  4. A pair of Nadim’s shoes that no longer fit.
  5. A pair of Nadim’s gloves that no longer fit.
  6. A pair of my gloves that I don’t like anymore and also they are somehow way too large now.
  7. A curtain from before we got new blinds last year.
  8. Another.
  9. Another.

MinsGame Fall 2019: Day 5

For the Minimizing Game Day 5 there are two very tiny bowls. I bought these when Samir was very young (he’s almost 9 now, so about 6 years ago) and I didn’t want him to use the breakable bowls. I didn’t realize when I ordered them online that they are quarter-sized. I clearly saw that when I got them, but kept them around for 6 years without ever using them.

In addition, there are three air plants that I got about 2 years ago. They actually died about a year ago, but I’ve been in denial and living with corpses. It takes a special person to kill an air plant, and obviously I am that person!

MinsGame Fall 2019: Day 2

For the Minimalism Game Day 2 I have two timers, given by the dentist. He gives these tooth-brushing timers every time we bring the kids, so these are extra. Yes, I try to refuse, but the kids reeeeeaaaaaally want new timers whenever we go. Eventually they will grow out of looking at small pieces of plastic as a “prize.” Eventually.

MinsGame Fall 2019: Day 1

I forgot I said I was doing this in the fall again, but I suppose I’m doing it! I feel very poorly prepared. With the rush of summer trips and plans, I neglected to take stock (even mentally) of the areas I usually need to sweep through. So if anyone would like to join me this round, I think there’s a decent chance I’ll fail!

For the Minimizing Game Day 1, I have a lonely pair of pants. No one in my house has ever worn these pants. They are a size 4T and I got them for Samir. The waist was comically too large for him. I kept trying them on him until they became shorts, length-wise. Then I tried them on Nadim, but he is just as skinny as Samir was at his age, and now they are also short on Nadim, while still being big enough at the waist to fall down. Goodbye, pants. Maybe you’ll fit some other kid!
